Evansville, IN - September 30, 2024 – The world premiere of The Great Gatsby Ballet is coming to Old National Events Plaza on April 12, 2025, for one night only. This highly anticipated debut is part of the World Ballet Company worldwide tour next year.
Ballet fans of all ages will step into the jazzy world of the roaring twenties with this new original production. Audiences will experience the glitz, glamour, and tragic romance of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s timeless novel live on stage. The World Ballet Company is celebrated for showcasing a multinational cast of 40 professional dancers, an all-star creative team, stunning hand-crafted costumes, and lavish, groundbreaking sets. The Great Gatsby Ballet represents the next generation of their incredible performances.
Renowned choreographer Ilya Zhivoy captures the passion of the central love story with a sensual, dynamic style. Theatrical costume designs by Sonya Vartanyan complete the production with sumptuousness and flair. Celebrated LA-based film and TV composer Anna Drubich, whose work includes the music for the 2023 Oscar-winning Navalny documentary, makes her ballet debut with a rich, lively score that embraces the sounds of the Jazz Age. The original score of The Great Gatsby Ballet evokes the energy and atmosphere of the 1920s, creating an unforgettable night of dance and drama.
